Visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, also known as S-21, which was once a school that was converted into a detention and torture center during the Khmer Rouge regime. Take a short drive to Choeung Ek, also known as the Killing Fields, where you will learn about the atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge and pay your respects to the victims of the genocide. After an early morning pick-up from your hotel, you'll travel to the sanctuary and receive an introduction to the elephants from your knowledgeable guide. You'll learn about the history of these magnificent animals, their behavior, and the issues surrounding their conservation in Thailand. Next, you'll have the chance to feed the elephants with fruit and sugar cane, and then walk with them through the jungle to a nearby mud pit. Here, you'll have the chance to bathe and play with the elephants in the mud, which is both fun and beneficial for their skin. You'll learn how to prepare and cook several dishes, such as Tom Yum soup, Pad Thai noodles, and Green Curry, all using fresh ingredients and traditional techniques. After the class, you'll have the chance to enjoy the delicious fruits of your labor and savor the flavors of authentic Thai cuisine.
